The Silver Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to foot infantrymen who had taken part in combat action on different days and met the required award criteria. It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc-alloy base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse displays a soldered sheet metal hinge, a soldered round plate round wire catch, (the catch itself is broken off) and sturdy round wire pin. They are all non-magnetic. The details and silver wash continue to display wonderfully! It measures approximately 2 7/16 inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. A great deal if you can live with the catch.
