Here we have a Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern! The 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to soldiers for exceptional service in battle above and beyond the call of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / "1939" (reverse) to the center. To the top is an integral loop and ring. Included is a full length original mint 9.5" ribbon. 10%+ of the bronze wash remains intact to the award. The award measures approximately 1 7/8 inches wide and tall. A good one!
