Ok so for all you guys who want "Textbook" so you can sleep well at night, this is the textbook piece. This is the actual one photographed for the book featured in page 501 of “The Iron Cross 1. Class” by D. Maerz and G. Stimson. This piece is called the “Otto Schickle, unmarked". This is made of a die-struck, tombak base that has been silver washed. The obverse features a National open winged eagle clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons, above a bannered “1939”. The reverse shows a solid full back. This piece has the correct; barrel hinge, round wire variation catch and pin. All components are non-magnetic. The silver wash has nicely patinaed with time. It depicts wonderful details throughout! A nice variation textbook example no one could ever question!
