1st Class Spange by L/18

Tough to find maker marked Spanges, this is a textbook B. H. Mayer - marked L/18 know as Long Vein variant. This is made of a die-struck, nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse features a National open winged eagle clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons, above a bannered “1939”. The reverse shows a solid full back. This piece has the correct; barrel hinge, wire catch and pin. All components are non-magnetic. The silver wash has nicely patinaed with time.
