Minty - Cased 2nd Class Spange by L/11

Private purchased Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse (Wiederholungsspange) 1939 by L/11 (Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid). The 2nd Class Spange to the Iron Cross 1939 (Repetition Clasp) was awarded to individuals who has received the 2nd class Iron Cross in WWI and would have earned the 2nd class Iron Cross in WWII. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed with polished highlights and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The obverse of the badge depicts a German national eagle, with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons and is above a trapezoid shaped pebbled bannered that reads "1939". The full back reverse is maker marked: "L/11" (Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid) and retains all four soldered on flat wire tombak prongs. It retains beautiful crisp detail and gorgeous silver patina! It measures approximately 1 1/4 inches wide and tall. This piece comes with 6 3/4 inches of black and white rayon ribbon and is housed in its original LDO (Leistungs Gemeinschaft der Deutscher Ordenshersteller, Administration of German orders Manufacturers) case. The two piece case is constructed out of a cardboard base that has been folded, glued together and has an aqua grained simulated leather exterior with a tan brown interior and blue felt based. To the center obverse top is a pressed silver "LDO" mark. The case measures approximately 1 1/2 inches wide and long by 11/16 of an inch thick. If you were only ever to get only one, I'd recommend this one!
