A Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by RZM M7/40 - Hartkopf & Co. of Solingen. The ricassoed blade on this one looks fine. The dual devil head “Hartkopf & Co. Solingen” logo and “RZM M7/40” maker mark are beautifully executed! The tip is perfect! The blade rates Exc+. It has surface scratches and age grey/spotting throughout. There is a small wiggle to the fit. The black leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard has oxidization spotting throughout. The throat is slightly warped. It remains completely dent free! The folded and riveted black leather strap is worn. Typical age wear. It retains all of its rivets and the snap continues to work well! The zinc based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 70%+ of its plated finish. Typical wear from the snap. The quillion is slightly bent and it was likely done in the period as there are no stress marks. The black bakelite checkered grip plates are in perfect shape and are secured by two oxidized steel rivets. The HJ diamond retains 99%+ of its enamel! This one came from a local Canadian who found them when he was a kid in the rafters of an old barn! A fine piece!
