Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. This configuration is textbook Eickhorn. The blade looks good. The stamped “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is nicely executed. The crossgrain is easily visible all the way from the hilt to tip. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates in at Exc+. It shows heavy age spotting through and the common surface scratches throughout. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based and nickel-silver plated. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. You can see remnants of the original lacquer coating still! Very nice! The steel ferrule and burnished aluminum pommel both look excellent. The gold gilded swastika is a real treat on this one! 98%+ gilding remains intact. The trylon grip has gorgeous age toning and no cracks or chips. The springy aluminum wire wrap remains tightly intact. A great dagger!
