Here we have a Transitional Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Puma of Solingen 1936! The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto, “Puma Solingen”, “Ges. Geschützt” patent and “RZM M7/27 1936” maker mark are all nicely executed! The fit continues to remain nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. It has been slightly sharpened, shows minor pitting spots along with the common surface scratches and age grey throughout. The leather buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It remains completely dent free and holds 97%+ of its original paint coverage. The brown scabbard leather is in fine condition. There is a crack to the leathers stress point on the female snap portion. Its approximately 50% holding on and wants to break off so be very careful with it. All of its rivets are intact. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 95%+ of its plating. Typical wear where the snap/rivet would be. The black bakelite checkered grip plates look great. Minor wear to the obverse grip plate where the spine it. Both plates continue to remain tightly secured to the hilt with two nickel silver rivets. The small HJ diamond retains 95%+ of its enamel. A fine piece!
