Anti-Partisan Badge in Gold by C.E. Juncker

A Bandenkampfabzeichen in Gold (Type 2.3) by C. E. Juncker of Berlin! The badge was instituted January 30th 1944 and was awarded to the Whermacht, Ordnungspolizei and Waffen SS for 150 days of deployment against partisan activity behind German lines. It is constructed out of a die struck, zinc-alloy base that has been gold washed. The obverse features; a centrally placed downward pointing broad sword, that has a sun wheel swastika to the round crossguard and is plunged into a Hydra consisting of five serpents and a skull and crossbones. There is a half oak leaf and acorn wreath to the top. There are two cut-outs in the snakes to the obverse. The reverse shows a semi-hollow scooped back with the correct short barrel hinge, round plate - flat wire catch and round wire needle pin. There is minor oxidization wear throughout. It continues to hold beautiful detail and about 50%+ of the gold wash to the obverse! There is minor cracks throughout the zinc and one on the stress point of the pin.
