A nice Flak-Kampfabzeichen der Luftwaffe by Steinhauer & Lück of Lüdenscheid! The Airforce Flak Badge was awarded to those who had participated in 3 air defense actions (with a registered kill) or 5 air defense actions (regardless of a kill) or to the battery commander if half of their troops had been awarded the badge. It is constructed out of a two-piece die struck zinc base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an anti-aircraft gun that is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath and is below/behind a Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika in one of its talons. The full-back reverse of the badge displays; a soldered on tombak oblong plate flatwire catch, a soldered on tombak block hinge and round wire pin. All of the components are in well working condition! It shows the correct die flaw to the swastika and beading. It measures approximately 2 ½ inches tall by 1 7/8 inches wide. See pages 192 of Marc Garlasco's “The Flak Badge”. A beautifully detailed piece fit for your collection!
