These later aluminum examples utilized the new material, (aluminum) that the Luftwaffe designed all their new generation of aircraft with. This is an affordable example of a later sword dedicated to a Flak unit. The scabbard retains its factory Moroccan blue leather perfectly matching the grip. It suffers some scuffs and a bite out of the lower reverse I have touched up with some shoe wax for aesthetic reasons. The fitting are correctly retains with headless screws. The plated blade is Exc with some age and grey. The obverse is nicely dedicated, "Zur Erinnerung an die Sperrfeuer - Batterie 153 Kriegsjahr 1941", roughly translated: "In Memory of service with Flak unit 153 in the war year 1941". The reverse is inspection stamped above the maker mark. The blade is seated through an intact pebbled blue leather washer into the solid aluminum crossguard. The grip is double wrapped with 2 springy aluminum wires. The pommel has lost it's gilt to time. The original leather remains intact to the grip. It has a few scuffs and pressure marks.
