Here we have one of the most elegant daggers made during the Third Reich! The blade on this piece has age pitting, darkening and has suffered a repointing. The dark and crisp, acid etched "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark is nicely executed. The blade on this one rates in at VG. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The scabbard is a dent-free, steel based and nickel plated example. The scabbard has the typical thick Eickhorn throat but the suspension bands are atypical for Eickhorn. The oak-leaf bands are exactly as they should be and the body depicts nice details with a random pebbling. The two side throat retaining screws remain intact. The scabbard snugly fits up against the hilt. The crossguard is tombak based and nickel-silver plated. It depicts a regal eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons. It wonderfully displays details throughout the eagles head, chest, wings, and thick wreathed swastika. The glamorous eagle head pommel, screw cap, ferrule and front side plate are all steel based and plated with plating loss and wear. These components all hold together two mother of pear grip plates. They are in perfect condition with no cracks, chips or splits! All of the exterior components match in plating, patina, age and color. The top pommel screw has been turned at some point but not for a very long time as it's all patinaed over. Overall this is a rare dagger at a very fair price. A great opportunity to add a rare dagger at a price you never see anymore!
