A Deutsches Kreta Ärmelbänd. The Kreta Cufftitle, introduced on October 16th 1942, was a campaign award for the battle for the Island of Crete, which began on May 20th 1941. It is constructed out of a yellow machine embroidered rayon to a white cotton base. The obverse reads, in yellow; “KRETA” flanked by two “acanthus” designs one to either side and is bordered by two horizontal yellow lines and all lies on a white base. The reverse shows the folded over top and bottom edges and is stamped “RBNr.0/0250/2340”. It shows minor age toning/soilage. Nice bright color! It measures approximately 17 ½ inches long by 1 ¼ inches tall. A great piece!
