A Olympia-Erinnerungsmedaille 1936. The German Olympic Memorial Medal was instituted July 31st 1936 and was awarded for services rendered to the 1936 Olympic Games. It is a constructed out of a die stamped steel based that has been silver plated. The round shaped obverse features a German national eagle (with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika in its talons) in front of a pedestal that has the five Olympic rings to the top and at the bottom the eagle is flanked by “1936” (19 - left, 36 - right). The reverse depicts the script: “Für Verdienstvolle Mitarbeit Bei Den Olympischen Spielen 1936” (For Meritorious Collaboration at the Olympic Games 1936) above a four piece oak leaf and acorn cluster. To the top is a soldered on loop and ring which holds approximately 4 ¼ inches of folded orange, white and black rayon ribbon. It measures approximately 1 7/16 inches in diameter. Nice patina.
