A Light - Deutsches Kreuz in Gold (DKiG) by 1 - Deschler & Sohn of Munchen. The Gold German Cross was awarded to military personnel to recognize repeated acts (6-8) of bravery or exceptional command in combat. It is constructed out of a die struck, five piece construction, with a; light cupal base, white aluminum core, gold gilded tombak wreath and red and black enamel work. The obverse features a large centrally placed raised black enamel mobile swastika, on a smooth white/silver aluminum base, which is surrounded by a gold gilded tombak laurel leaf and ribbon wreath that is marked “1941” to the bottom and lies on a red enamel base. This is all on a two piece backend and silvered eight point sunburst pattern backing. The full back reverse correctly shows; four tombak rivets, a soldered on round plate rectangular wire catch, soldered on sheet metal hinge and a solid tapered flatwire pin which is maker marked “1”. It has been stamped twice as is common with a lot of stampings. Nice age patina. The enamel to the swastika is 99%! It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide and tall. It weighs 55g. Much rarer than the Zimmerman or Otto Klein & Co. A desirable award!
