Cased 1st Class Red Cross Honor Award 1st Model by Godet

What a beautiful and cool looking award! The 1st Class award by Godet is a two piece die struck construction that has been fire gilded and finished with red, black and white enamel work. The obverse features a separately applied roundel above a white square cross that is bordered in gold. The reverse shows that same white square cross that is bordered in gold. The detail, fire gilt and enamel work are just superb! Attached to the top of the ring is a suspension device for the neck cross ribbed, red and white rayon ribbon. The ribbon is in beautiful shape as well! The award comes housed in its appropriate case. The case is made of wood and pressed cardboard, with a simulated, grained, red leather covering. To the front is a spring loaded, closure button. To the back is a magnetic, staggered, internal bar hinge. Both function well. To the top interior of the case is a ink stamped "Godet Berlin". The interior of the top lid of the case is lined in a satin and has an underlying pad. The bottom interior of the case is made of a deep red/burgundy felt material that outlines the award and ribbon. There is the odd mark and age spot throughout. The case is in excellent condition! A complete and wonderful piece just right for your collection!
