Direct from the Vet's family last week, never been in a collection never been cleaned or taken apart. This one has all of the features that you want to see on an early Postal protection piece! The blade has a perfect fit and a beautifully executed, acid etched, Paul Weyersberg maker mark. The blade rates an Exc+. There are some age spots an a wee bit of fine pitting. The black enameled painted scabbard body remains completely dent free, with some wear scratches, I would say the paint is 99%. The scabbard fittings are in great shape matching the hilt and chain in color and wear! All five screws remain intact. The chain is in good condition with 9 links to the top and 12 to the bottom terminating at the correct "DRGM" marked clip, (all textbook) which has some pitting and springs fine but stays open. The black chip-free wood grip is in nice shape. The unique postal insignia is properly pinned, proud of the surface, just as it should be. The enamel to the swastikas is 100% intact. The bottom of the crossguard is stamped "878, DRP". This is a nice early example that would look great with a bit of cleaning in your collection!
