A 1. Stufe Nahkampfspange in Bronze by C.E. Juncker of Berlin (“Full Wings” - 1.13.1). The Bronze I Stage Close Combat Clasp was awarded for 15 close combat battles. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc-alloy base that has been bronze washed and covered in a protective brennlack finish. The obverse depicts a crossed model 24 grenade and K98 bayonet with oak leaves, acorns and lined rays all beneath a German national eagle. The reverse of the badge is correctly maker marked: “Fec. W. E. Peekhaus Berlin” and “Ausf. C.E. Juncker Berlin”. It also correctly displays a flatwire catch on a round base, a black hinge and a banjo style pin with a crimped blackened backplate. The badge depicts beautiful details throughout! It measures 3 7/8 inches wide by 1 inch tall. See page 178 of T. Durante’s “The German Close Combat Clasp of World War II”. A nice peice!
