An Army Truppen Sonder Dienst Administrative Oberleutnant White Summer Tunic. This Tunic has caduceus Administrative Insignia with bright blue waffenfarbe and does not have Medical Insignia with cornflower blue waffenfarbe. It was also photographed with misaligned buttons. This piece came with a COA from Craig Gottlieb and since he did all the hard work so I’ll let him describe it:
“Army Medical Lt Colonel White Tunic. Tailor made summer white tunic for a Medical Oberstleutnant. The fabric is a fine quality cotton, and the tunic is set up for 2 badges and a ribbon or medal bar. Great textbook example of the summer white tunic as worn by officers of the Heer, and in this case a scarce and relatively hard to find branch of the Army. The tailoring is superb, and you can see in the photographs that the tunic 'drapes' very well. I see that it was buttoned up wrong in the photos, but after a morning coffee it will button correctly! The shoulder boards are the 'wing' removable type, perfectly matched, with the Mercury's winged staff and pip in gold. The eagle has greyed, and would originally have been silver finished. The buttons, eagle, and boards are removable to allow the tunic to be laundered without damaging the insignia. The original wearer was decorated with 2 badges and a ribbon/medal bar, as evidenced by the loops. The condition is great, with only some moth damage to the underlay of the board as you can see. The white summer tunics have often been overlooked by collectors, however there are not very many on the market, and they are harder to find than most realize. Not every officer could afford to have one made, so there are far more service tunics around, for example, than the summer whites. An impressive and sharp looking tunic!”.
