A Frontflugspange Für Aufklärer, Seenotflieger-Verbände und Wetter-Erkundungs Staffeln in Silber im Etui by IMME & Sohne of Berlin. Instituted January 30th 1941, the Clasp for Reconnaissance, Air/Sea Rescue and Meteorological Squadrons in Silver was awarded for specialized squadrons upon the completion of sixty combat missions. It is constructed out of a die struck two-piece nickel-silver base that has been silver washed and chemically blackened and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The obverse features a centrally placed eagle head surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath with a static swastika to the base, which is all flanked by nine oak leaves. The full back reverse shows the appropriate; rivet, soldered on barrel hinge, soldered on round wire tombak catch and pin. All of the components are non-magnetic and continue to work well. The clasp measures 3 inches wide by 1 inch tall. It comes housed in its appropriate case. The case is constructed out of wood and pressed cardboard covered in a blue simulated grained leather covering. The top reads, in gold Gothic style script: “Frontflugspange Für Aufklärer Silber”. The case measures approximately 3 ½ inches wide by 1 5/8 inches deep by 7/8 of an inch thick. The cases hinge is practically broken and I cleaned the case up a bit as it was in terrible condition when I got it. A fine piece.
