I always get amazed at the details that are put into these forestry pieces! The 13 inch blade on this one looks great! It is a triple acid etched example! The spine displays a leaf motif with the distributor, "G. Eckenhoff Nachf. Berlin" "and the two panels depict forestry scenes with: a dog, two foxes, three does, one stag all in a forest scene. The crisp etching provides a wonderful contrast to the rest of the bright blade. The stamped "Alcoso ACS Solingen" maker mark is nicely executed. The blade also has a perfect tip and solid fit. It rates in at Exc++. There's a bit of age, evidence of cleaning and the etch is a bit lightened. The original green felt buffer pad remains tightly secured. The scabbard looks good! The black leather body looks wonderful with only minor scuffs/pressure marks. It has a nice black finish with four vertical lines running through the length of it. It retains all of its stitching. Look at the reverse of the upper. It's been jeweler engraved, "Für gute leistungen gewidmet vom verein Waldheil Neudamm". Translated roughly, "For your good services dedicated by the association Waldheil Neudamm". The brass based, gold gilded, scalloped scabbard fittings look great! The lower fitting has a dent. Both fittings are secured to the body with one staple each. The D-guard steel based, gold gilded hilt looks great! It depicts nice detail with two hooves and several acorns! There are two stag grip plates that are in excellent condition! They are tightly secured with no cracks, chips or splits. They have three acorns on each side. This whole piece has wonderful detail throughout! Just right for your collection!
