The blade on this one is great with lots of crossgrain. The dark and crisp acid etched “Meine Ehre heist Treue” motto is beautifully executed! There are fingerprint stains and a perfect tip. There is no maker mark and this is exactly how they were issued from the factory. The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. The steel based, black anodized scabbard body on this one looks good! There are some small hits to the lower obverse I have taken pains to share. The anodizing is 100% intact with traces of facytory lacquer. Most of the time you see these all nicked up from the chain, but not this one! The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look good. They retain great plating to the obverse with loss from wear to the back and the clip. The ball retains a great round shape. All six screws remain intact. The chain is the later type II plated variation that is steel based and nickel silver plated. The chain links show wonderful detail to the skulls and SS runes! It’s really something when you can see each individual teeth to the skulls! The correct first upper link is clearly “SS” proof marked. The clip looks great and continues to work well. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The alloy based, nickel-silver plated crossguards are in good shape with some plating loss. The black hardwood grip is crack and chip-free. The aluminum eagle is beautifully detailed with an excellent fit! The SS roundel retains 97% of its enamel and has a perfect fit!
