A great Eickhorn Student NPEA with the correct configuration! The blade on this one is an excellent example! The acid etched Eickhorn specific "Mehr sein als scheinen." (Be more than you appear to be.) motto and over-the-shoulder "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They truly provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to an excellent point. This has been cleaned but you can still make out some crossgrain. There are scuffs and rubs. The blade rates Exc+. The buffer pad is lost to time. The original olive painted scabbard looks good, it has a dent on obverse 3" north of the ball. It shows minor age crazing and paint loss from honest wear. The original throat retaining screw remains intact and the magnetic ball remains perfectly round! The stud is correctly shaped and correctly unmarked. The zinc plated crossguards look good with some lifting. They show the common bubbling towards the edges of the grip yet continue to retain 95% plating coverage! The brown hardwood grip is in good condition displaying good graining to the wood! It has the common pressure marks throughout, and a chip that's been glued back in. It has the correct late war zinc eagle that is perfectly inset in the grip and shows excellent detail! A wonderful example of a rare dagger missing from most collections!
