A 18-jährige 2. Stufe. Polizei-Dienstauszeichnung im Etui. This was awarded to active members of the German Police who gave 18 years of service surrounding the Third Reich era. It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver plated. The obverse features a centrally placed police emblem which consists of a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons above an oval oak leaf wreath (tied together at the top) which is in front of a pebbled pattée style cross that has a smooth boarder. The reverse reads: “Für Treue Dienst in der Polizei” (For Loyal Service in the Police) within an oval smooth backing and in front of that same bordered pattée style cross. To the top is a soldered on loop and ring. Accompanying the award is approximately 2 inches of folded blue rayon ribbon that has a stitched white police emblem and a button hole. The bright thick plating is superb! It measures approximately 1 11/16 inches wide and tall. The award comes housed in its original case. The case is constructed out of pressed cardboard with a simulated, grained, green, leather covering. To the top is a beautiful pressed silver foil “18” surrounded by an oak leaf wreath. The interior top lid and base is covered in a grey felt with and divider. The case is in excellent condition with minor wear to the corners. It measures approximately 4 inches long by 2 1/4 inches wide by 11/16 of an inch thick. Nice!
