A Luftwaffe Dienstauszeichnung der Wehrmacht 25-Jährige (1.Klasse). The 25 Year Wehrmacht Long Service (1st Class) was instituted on the 16th of March 1936 and was awarded for 25 years of good standing military service. The award is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been gold gilded. The obverse features a pattée style cross with a centrally placed closed winged National Eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons / “25” (reverse), encircled above a pebbled background. To the top is an integral loop and ring which holds 5 3/4 inches of blue rayon ribbon. The ribbon has a pinned on gilded tombak 1st pattern Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika in one of its talons. The award measures approximately 1 1/8 inches wide and tall. A gorgeous example!
