A Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps Plakette 1938 mit Urkundes im Etui by Gustav Brehmer of Markneukirchen. This NSFK Award Medallion was awarded for placement in the Gliding Competition held at the Rhön Mountains on the 6th of August 1939. It is constructed out of a die stamped aluminum alloy base that has been gold plated and lacquered. The oval shaped obverse features an encircled, centrally placed NSFK emblem; the Greek god ‘Icarus' behind a mobile swastika on his legs/feet, below an arched “NSFK” and above: “Rhön Segelflug Wettbewerb 23. 7.-6. 8. 39.” and “NS-Fliegerkorps”. The full back reverse is maker marked “Brehmer Markneukirchen”. The medallion measures 2 3/16 inches wide by 2 5/8 inches tall. The medallion comes housed in its appropriate issue case. Typical wood and pressed covered in a simulated black leather. The interior lid reads, in gold: “Nationalsozialistisches Fliegerkorps Der Korpsführer”. There is a place for the award document behind it. Base is covered in a blue felt. Hinge and press button work well. It measures: 4 x 4 3/4 x 7/8. It is in beautiful condition. It also comes with a certificate. A great assembly!
