A Kreigsmarine Flottenkriegsabzeichen im Etui by Richard Simm & Söhne of Gablonz. The Navy High Seas Fleet War Badge was awarded for service to the crews of battleships, cruisers and other supporting naval ships who met the specific award criteria (along with those who were killed in action). It is constructed out of a die-struck zinc base that has been gold gilded and blackened. The obverse depicts a frontal view of a battle ship, cutting through waves, which is below a Kriegsmarine eagle (with out-stretched wings clutching a mobile swastika within its talons) and is surrounded by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full-back concave reverse is correctly marked: “R.S.&S.”. It also displays the correct; crimped steel flat wire catch, crimped steel ball hinge and steel coke bottle pin. All of the components remain working well. Minor zinc pest. The gilding, blackening and details all look excellent! It measures approximately 2 1/4 inches high by 1 ¾ inches wide. It comes housed in a cardstock case that is covered in a purple/black marble exterior and issue tissue paper. The case is in wonderful condition. It measures 2 1/8 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 5/8 of an inch thick. Extremely rare!
