A Kriegsabzeichen für Marineartillerie by C. Schwerin & Sohn of Berlin. The Kriegsmarine Coastal Artillery Badge was awarded to the crews of Kriegsmarine land-based marine artillery and anti-aircraft units. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been chemically blackened and gold gilded. The obverse depicts an anti-aircraft gun that is in front of a coast, is below a Kriegsmarine eagle (with out-stretched wings, clutching a swastika within its talons) and is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The full back reverse is correctly marked “Schwerin Berlin”. It also displays the correct tombak; soldered on flat wire catch, soldered on block hinge and coke bottle pin. It measures approximately 1 5/8 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches tall. A great piece a desirable maker!
