Direct from the Vet's family! Here we have a M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. This configuration is textbook Eickhorn. The blade looks good. The etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is nicely executed. The blade has a bit of age. The fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates in at Exc+. The blue pebbled leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is steel based and "airplane gray" plated. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and burnished aluminum pommel both look excellent. The gold gilded swastika is a real treat on this one! 90%+ gilding remains intact. The trylon grip has wear and wee hits along with some tiny hairlines towards the reverse pommel and a tiny chip just up from the obverse ferule... and yes! I'm being anal. The springy aluminum wire wrap remains tightly intact. Included is the period shortened hangers that this arrived with. They are lightly frayed and worn. A great dagger!
