What an nice example! The nickel-plated blade is very nice with clean edges a beautifully acid etched double oval "E. & F. Horster Solingen" trademark.It rates in at an easy Exc++. It shows just a bit of age toward the tip but that's it. The fine blue pebbled leather washer remains in place. The satin aluminum fittings look superb! The swastikas are beautifully gilded and all matching, I know that the crossguard ones appear more muted but it's just the lighting! The fine grip is wood based and leather covered. The leather has good coloring and all the graining is there. This grip is wrapped with triple aluminum wire, the center being twisted for contrast. The scabbard shell is straight and true. The original leather covering is in nice shape! The scabbard mounts are produced of matching satin aluminum. These are in great condition and matching the hilt fittings. There are just a few small hits. The mounts are retained with five headless, flush-mount side screws. The matching aluminum chain consists of 6 upper and 9 lower ringlets. The ringlets gather at the aluminum upper snap clip that is "OLC" marked. Very nice example of an aluminum 1st model Luft!
