M1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The blade looks great! The stamped “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is beautifully executed. Beautiful crossgrain remains visible through the full length of the blade. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade on this one rates Exc++. It shows age grey throughout and the typical surface scratches/runner marks. The brown leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is nickel-silver based and silver washed. It remains completely dent free. It depicts nice detail throughout with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. Both throat retaining screws remain intact. The aluminum-alloy based burnished eagle crossguard has nice detail to the eagles head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The steel ferrule and burnished aluminum-alloy pommel both look excellent. The wood based celluloid covered grip is in near perfect condition. No cracks or chips. The springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. Included is a slightly frayed original correct portepee. So looking at this one I conclude that it is NOT typical Eickhorn production and most likely a parts dagger.
