A Fallschirmschützenabzeichen der Luftwaffe by L/64 - F. W. Assmann & Söhne of Lüdenscheid. The Luftwaffe Paratrooper Badge was awarded to those who had successfully completed the paratrooper training course, consisting of physical and psychological tests along with six qualifying parachute jumps. The two-piece construction badge features an injection molded zinc based and gold gilded eagle and a silvered wreath. The oval shaped obverse depicts a diving Luftwaffe eagle, clutching a swastika within its talons, and is above by a blackened half laurel leaf and berry, half oak leaf and acorn wreath. The reverse is correctly maker marked “A L/64” behind the eagle and “2” to the wreath. It also displays the correct; hinge and round wire pin. The catch is broken. Shows large pressure marks to the eagle where the rivets are and extra solder splotches. It measures approximately 1 5/8 inches wide by 2 1/8 inches high. Nice to see an LDO marked piece!
