German WWII > Belt Buckles > SS >
A beautiful early SS EM Belt Buckle by Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid! It is constructed out of a die struck nickel-silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts an SS eagle with its tongue sticking out and outstretched wings, clutching a centrally placed wreath static swastika in its talons. The eagle is above the SS motto: "Meine Ehre heißt Treue!" which is in front of a rough background that is surrounded by two twisted ropes in a circle. All of this lies on a smooth rectangular background. The reverse is clearly maker marked: "O&C" (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid) and "ges. gesch.". It also shows a brass catch and steel prongs. It shows patina and great detail there is some small pitting. It measures approximately 2 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A highly desired piece!
