Here we have a (IJA) Japanese Army Officer Sword Belt and Buckle! The buckle, clip, rivets and attachment pieces are constructed out of die struck brass that have been gold gilded. The belt, loops and strap are constructed out of a brown leather exterior and a canvas blue interior. The dagger strap is lined to the interior with blue wool which has age and cracking The obverse of the buckle features a centrally placed circular disc (representing the sun) with rays coming out of it on a pebbled background. The sun is surrounded by a garland of chrysanthemum flowers and leaves which is again on a pebbled background. There are two rectangular loops that are attached to the belt, one to either side. The belt is soft and pliable! The buckle shows nice detail and the whole piece shows period wear and age.
