German WWII > Belt Buckles > SS >
A rare buckle! It is constructed out of a die struck aluminum-alloy base that has silver washed. The round shaped obverse features an SS eagle with its outstretched wings, its tongue sticking out and it is clutching a (centrally placed) wreathed stagnant swastika in its talons. The eagle is above a bannered SS motto which reads "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue." (My Honor is my Loyalty). The eagle and motto are on top of a textured and lined design background. The reverse of the buckle shows a mirror image of the obverse and has the proper crimped on aluminum catch and hinge assembly. The catch has broken off. It is marked "RZM", "SS", "36/38" (Overhoff & Cie., Lüdenscheid / 1939) and "OLC". This one has honest wear, the keeper is a bit bent but I leave this stuff as I found it. If you want to straighten this I leave it to you. It measures approximately 1 15/16 inches in diameter. A solid piece!
