A piece from the WHW (Winterhilfswerk) Germanic Archaeology Series. This series showed pre-Third Reich swastikas found in archaeological digs, the location it was found and their estimated date of use. This is the gold version, there is also a silver one. This round tinnie is made of a yellow molded celluloid base that has been gold gilded. The obverse depicts a swirled swastika, with dots around it, on a pebbled background, all surrounded by a rope. The reverse shows the yellow celluloid base with a full flat back and an embossed: "Köln – Müngersdorf Goldanhänger 550-600. Fränkisch". It also has an impressed round plate steel well working pin. It measures 1 5/16 inches in diameter. A great addition to complete the full series.
