A Kriegs-verdienstkreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwertern! The 2nd Class War Merit Cross with Swords was awarded to soldiers for exceptional service in battle above and beyond the call of duty. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been bronze washed and lacquered. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / "1939" (reverse) to the center. To the top is a soldered on loop and an unmarked ring that holds approximately 4 1/2 inches of black, white and red rayon ribbon. The award measures 1 7/8 inches wide and tall. Nice!
