金鵄勲章 Kinshi Kunshō. The Japanese Order of the Golden Kite, established the 12th of February 1890, was exclusively a military award, conferred for bravery, leadership or command in battle. It is constructed out of a silver alloy mirror like base with a gilding. The obverse features two cross Samurai shields and sheathed swords laying over them, with two mitsu tomoe Shinto symbol banners, and a centrally placed vertical sheathed halberd on top of a golden kite (bird of prey). To the top is an integral ball loop and ring which holds 3 inches of folded green-blue and white ribbon. It measures 1 11/16 inches wide by 2 ¼ inches tall. It comes with its original Late war Paper Packet and a rosette. Great condition!
