A beauty for sure with all matching patina! The bright blade on this one looks great! The acid etched "PUMA Solingen" maker mark in the large form is dark, crisp and beautifully factory executed! Best of all the obverse of the blade is Jeweler engraved, "Uffx-Corps l.JJL./I.R.466." and to the reverse, "Kriegs-Weihnachten 1940". Ok, so pls forgive me reading 75 yr old cursive is not my strong suit so I may have miss interpreted some letters. I believe this would have been a gift for Christmas 1940 to a guy in the Officer Corps. This has been cleaned and some crossgrain remains. The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is nice and tight. The blade rates a Exc++. It shows just the most minor age. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The nickel-silver based scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands! It remains completely dent free. Just wonderful patina here. The original throat retaining screw remains intact. The correct zinc-alloy based, silver plated generic Type II crossguard provides wonderful detail throughout the eagle's head, wings, wreath and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns. The orange, trylon grip on this one is perfect with age patina to the crevices. Don't hesitate, this is the one to get!
