LDO Case for a 1st Class Iron Cross. The case is constructed out of a wood and pressed cardboard base that is covered in a simulated grained black leatherette. To the front is a plated steel (lightly oxidized) round spring loaded push button. To the back is a steel, staggered, piano hinge. The top features a silver foil 1st pattern LDO mark. The underside features the maker mark “E.K.1. L/14” (I believe it is L/14, L/11 or L/17 it is tough to make out). The interior-bottom of the case is constructed out of a pressed cardboard base that is covered in a pearl fibrous felt material that outlines a pin, hinge and catch assembly. The interior top is covered in a pearl satin material above an underlying pad. The case measures approximately 2 11/16 inches wide and deep by 3/4 of an inch thick. A rare, desirable case.
