A nice Short Dress Bayonet by WKC direct from the Vet's family! The single edged, fullered 7 7/8 inch plated blade on this one looks excellent! The stamped Knight “WKC” maker mark is beautifully executed! The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The tip comes to a nice point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc++. It shows a dot of plating loss to the very last 2mm of the tip... Yes, I'm anal! The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It shows age spidering, small hits, chips and retains 95%+ of its original paint coverage. It continues to remain completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw and frog lug remain intact. The ball remains perfectly round. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks great as well. It retains 99%+ of a plating coverage. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in perfect condition being tightly secured to the hilt with two rivets. The push button continues to work well! This one comes with a crazed but functional frog. All the patina is retained on this uncleaned example. A nice quality piece!
