A Textbook 1937 2nd Model Luftwaffe Dagger (Fliegerdolch) by SMF. One of the best manufacturers of 2nd Model Luftwaffe Daggers! The more desirable plated blade on this one looks great! It has a beautifully executed “SMF Solingen” maker mark, with a perfectly stamped proof mark just above it! It has a perfect tip and solid fit. The plating looks great as well, giving it a nice mirror like finish! The blade on this one rates Exc++/NM. There is minor age grey and some surface scratches. The original blue pebbled buffer pad remains intact. The steel based plated scabbard looks excellent! It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless retaining screws remain intact! The correct aluminum bands perfectly match the crossguard and pommel. The burnished aluminum SMF Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum pommel is beautifully hand enhanced to the sides. The early trylon grip has aged to a nice orange over time. It is in near perfect condition with no cracks, chips or splits and one tone darker to the obverse! The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. One pressure mark to it. Come with the correct lightly frayed portepee. A quality matching SMF piece!
