A Luftwaffe Frontflug-Spange für Transportfliger in Silber. The Transport and Glider Clasp in Silver was instituted November 19th 1941 and awarded for 60 operational sorties. It is constructed out of two pieces of die struck nickel-silver that has been silver washed / chemically blackened. The obverse depicts a centrally placed blackened Luftwaffe eagle with open wings, clutching a swastika in one of its talons. The eagle is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The wreathed eagle is flanked by four round cut outs and two nine-piece oak leaf clusters. The full back reverse shows a central rivet, a soldered on nickel-silver round wire catch, soldered on nickel-silver barrel hinge and sturdy tapered nickel-silver pin. They all continue to remain working well. It displays wonderful detail throughout! It measures 3 inches wide by 1 inch tall. A great example!
