A three-piece Award Document Grouping to Luftwaffe Oberfeldwebel Herbert Dawedeit (May 20, 1914 - August 3, 1999) recipient of the Knights Cross of the Iron Cross (29.2.44) and pilot in the 8./Sturzkampfgeschwader 77. Included is Dawedeit’s Award Documents for; The 2nd Class Iron Cross (13.7.41), Luftwaffe Pilot Badge (30.7.41) and Eastern Front Medal (13.8.42). All of the documents have a fold to the center and are in excellent condition. Here is more information about Dawedeit:

KC 29 February 1944 as Oberfeldwebel after 627 missions. Came to the 8./St.G. 77 in May 1940 and remained with this unit until early 1944, by that time being — together with Ofw. Gerhardt Bauer (KC on 29 February 1944) — the Staffel's oldest and most successful member. In this unit he saw action in France, over Britain, in the Balkan, against Crete, in Russia, in Sardinia and again in Russia, achieving considerable and often decisive successes in many parts of the front. During the battle of Sevastopol he flew 120 missions, up to eight missions a day, succeeding in placing direct hits on the fortresses "Ba-stion 2", "Maxim Gorki" and "Bunker 4" as well as on an ammunition dump in the Imkerman ravine. Received the German Cross in Gold on 21 August 1942. On 16 December 1942 he rescued his downed Staffelkapitan from behind enemy lines despite deep snow and strong defensive fire. Flew his 500th mission on 2 August 1943. At the time of the Knight's Cross award he had destroyed seven bridges, two armored trains, 34 tanks, eight landing craft, one destroyer and five supply ships with a total of 17.200 BRT, the latter in Feodosia harbor and the Black Sea. From January to 14 March 1944 at the Blind-flugschule Stubbendorf (SG 111), subsequently as flying instructor at schools in Lyon and Fassberg, in the fall of 1944 to the LKS 12 Rugen, early in 1945 as Leutnant and Staffelkapitan to the Schlachtgruppe 200 (z.b.V.), 9. Staffel, seeing action in the east, flying close support missions near Berlin, last mission flown against the Elbe bridge near Lauenburg. Total of 806 missions as Stuka and assault pilot, shot down six times, including three bale-outs, wounded once.
