Preußen - Heer Koppelschloß by Stimming & Venzlaff Altenburg 1916. It is constructed out of a two-piece die stamped steel base that has been olive drab painted. The obverse roundel depicts an imperial crown a smooth round background. The crown is above a half laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: “Gott Mit Uns” (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a decorative lined background which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse is maker marked “Stimming & Venzlaff Altenburg 1916” to the center and features two solder marks where the roundel is attached, an integral catch and a steel pin/post, sleeve and prongs assembly. Stitched to the assembly is a brown leather tab which is also maker marked and dated 1916. Nice age patina. The buckle measures 2 3/8 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A very nice maker marked example!
