Spanien-Kreuz in Gold mit Schwertern by C. E. Juncker of Berlin. The Gold Spanish Cross with Swords award criteria was restricted to those who not only engaged the enemy, but had also excelled in the form of personal bravery or achievement. Only 1126 gold crosses were awarded. It is a multi-piece a die struck “900” silver content based construction that has been gold fire gilded and finished in a protective lacquer coating. The obverse depicts a convex pebbled Maltese style cross with two crossed broad swords and four Luftwaffe eagles to each corner, that has an encircled (separately soldered on) mobile swastika to the center. The full back concave reverse is maker marked “CEJ” and “900” (silver content designation). It also has a soldered-on c-shaped catch, soldered on block hinge and coke bottle pin, all of which are in well working condition. The catch may have been re-soldered back on. There is a surface scratch to the reverse. The detail and gold highlights are beautiful! It measures 2 3/16 inches wide and tall. Comes with a bill of sale from H. Weitze.
