A Model 1935 - Wehrmacht Heer Dolch by ASSO – A. Schüttelhöfer & Co. of Solingen-Wald. The blade on this one looks great! The acid etched “ASSO A. Schüttelhöfer & Co. of Solingen-Wald” maker mark is dark crisp and beautifully executed. The crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates Exc++/NM. It shows age grey/spotting throughout along with the common surface scratches. The large leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The steel based, nickel silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands. The scabbard remains dent free. The original throat retaining screws remains intact. The alloy based, nickel silver plated generic eagle crossguard provides beautiful details throughout the eagle’s head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns throughout. Nice matching patina! The plaster based celluloid covered grip is in excellent condition. The odd orange spot but no cracks or chips. A great piece by a rarer army dagger manufacturer.
