A RARE Aluminum - Model 1935 - Wehrmacht Heer Dolch by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. To the best of my knowledge this is one of a handful examples known. For the experienced variation collector! Likely Eichhorn did a quick aluminum run and soon after opted for the less expensive and more durable plated zinc. This is an extremely light dagger. The scabbard, crossguard, ferrule and pommel are all aluminum construction. The blade on this one looks good. The acid etched “Original Eickhorn Solingen” maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed! Some of the crossgrain remains visible as you shine it in the light. The fit is nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates an Exc++. It shows the common surface scratches and age grey throughout. The large leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard provides nice detail with the random pebbling and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands! There are several dents to the scabbard. The scabbard has an integral throat with no retaining screw. The Eickhorn eagle crossguard provides beautiful details throughout the eagle’s head, wings, wreath, beak and chest. Minor wear to the high point. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns throughout. The sun toned warm orange / yellow grip on this one looks great! The odd spot but no cracks or chips. A very unique piece for the right buyer!
