SMF truly made some wonderful 2nd Model Luftwaffe Daggers! The more desirable plated blade on this one has a beautifully executed "SMF Solingen" maker mark, with a perfectly stamped proof mark just above it! It has a perfect tip and perfect fit. The plating looks good with some stain and evidence of sharpening. Sounds bad but it's not too bad at all. The blade on this one rates Exc. The original blue pebbled buffer pad remains intact. The correct SMF steel based, plated scabbard looks excellent! It depicts awesome details throughout, with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns. It remains completely dent free and the two headless retaining screws remain intact! The correct aluminum bands perfectly match the pommel. The SMF Luftwaffe eagle crossguard has amazing detail to its head, feathers, wings and top side oak leaves and acorns. The aluminum pommel is beautifully hand enhanced to the sides and has those two proud gold gilded swastika you want to see, surrounded by oak leaves and acorns. 95% of the gold gilding remains intact! Just beautiful! The early trylon grip has aged to a nice lemon-yellow over time. It has a few minor hits and wee marks from honest period wear. There is one small chip to the side yet no cracks, chips or splits. The aluminum springy wire wrap remains tightly intact. A nice matching SMF piece with great pommels!
