An Early Model 1933 Hitlerjugend Fahrtenmesser by Puma of Solingen. The blade on this one looks good. The stamped “PUMA Solingen” maker mark and “Ges. Geschützt” patent mark are nicely executed. The acid etched “Blut und Ehre!” motto is faint yet still visible. The tip comes to a nice point and the fit is tight as it should be. The blade rates an Exc+. It shows some surface scratches and minor age spotting. The leather buffer pad is lost to time. The steel based black painted scabbard is in great condition. It retains 70% paint coverage and it remains completely dent free. The black scabbard leather is in excellent condition! It has all of its rivets intact and the snap continues to work well. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 97% of its plating. The grip plates are black checkered bakelite and remain in near perfect condition. Both solid nickel-silver rivets remain tightly secured. The HJ diamond retains 85% of its enamel. A nice Hitler Youth Knife!
